A Union man has been charged in connection with a 2014 residential burglary on Wyoming Avenue in Elizabeth, thanks to some dried blood.
When a man broke a garage window to enter a city home in a burglary last September, he left behind a bloody stain, and a little over 5 months later, a Union man has been charged in connection to the burglary, police said today.
Andre Dawson, 22, of Union was charged with the September 24, 2014 burglary at a home on the 600 block of Wyoming Avenue, Lt. D.Geddes said.
In February, Detective Thomas Dubeau was notified by the Union County Prosecutor's Office Forensic Laboratory of a possible DNA match connecting Dawson to a dried blood stain located in that burglary, in which a large amount of high value jewelry was stolen, added Geddes.
At the time of the March 2 arrest, Dawson was in the Union County Jail on unrelated charges.
He remains in county jail on a $75,000 bail, said the lieutenant.
