Police in Newark’s South Ward requested a citywide response to a large fight that left a teen boy injured in a stabbing incident this evening.
Officers responded to reports of a large gathering with physical altercations and shots fired in the area of 368 Lyons Avenue around 5 p.m. Saturday evening.
When police arrived, they requested multiple units to the scene after they found over two dozen unruly teens at that location.
As officers attempted to disperse the large group, they found a teenage boy suffering stab wounds.
He was transported to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.
Police also located a shell casing at the intersection of Dewey and Lyons Avenue.
Authorities are trying to determine if a person found shot on Oswald Place in Union is connected to the Newark incident.
Newark Police were able to get the situation under control and has launched an investigation.
