DEVELOPING: Second Deadly Crash on Route 1 in Linden Under Investigation

Union County authorities are investigating another fatal collision that occurred on Route 1 in Linden within a span of just over 24 hours. 

The most recent crash happened early Saturday morning, around 3:40 a.m., at the intersection of Route 1 and Stiles Street.AdEmergency responders, including police, fire, and EMS, arrived at the scene to find one individual severely injured. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Linden Police have not yet released the exact circumstances surrounding the collision.

In response to the crash, officers closed the highway from Wood Avenue to Pleasant Street to conduct a thorough investigation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

This fatal incident follows another tragic collision on the same roadway that occurred late Thursday night, October 3. Around 11:30 p.m., police responded to a crash involving a 2022 BMW motorcycle and a 2012 Ford F150 pickup truck.

The motorcyclist, a 19-year-old Brooklyn man, was traveling south on I-278 when he collided with the pickup truck as it made a turnaround to travel north at the Phillips 66 Domestic Trades entrance.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, and no additional injuries were reported in the crash.AfAuthorities are urging anyone with information about either crash to contact the Linden Police Traffic Bureau at (908) 474-8505. The investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
