There are severe injuries reported for one person struck by a vehicle on a highway in Bloomfield Monday morning.
NJ State Police were called to the northbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway to investigate reports of a crash just before 4:25 a.m.
Upon arrival, Troopers found an unidentified person suffering severe injuries after a car struck them near exit 151 of the highway.
NJ State Police has not released specific details on why the pedestrian was on the busy roadway at this time.
Officials told The RLS Metro Morning Crew the following in a brief statement:
"The accident involving a pedestrian was reported at 4:24 a.m. north at milepost 151 in Bloomfield. Troopers are currently on scene investigating the cause and circumstances of the accident. As of right now, the investigation is taking place on the shoulder and there are no lane closures." -Trooper Alejandro Goez
NJ State Police could not immediately confirm a fatality as of 5:25 a.m.
Commuters should expect some minor rubbernecking delays on the highway during the morning rush.
