Authorities from across Union County are currently on the scene of a shooting incident in Rahway that left three victims, including a police officer, injured this evening.
Details about the incident remain scarce as the situation continues to unfold.
According to preliminary information, shortly before 8:40 PM, police responded to multiple reports of shots fired and an officer down in the area of 1076 Broad Street.
Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and found a police officer suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg, along with two other individuals who were also struck by gunfire.
The officer is a Perth Amboy cop reportedly serving a warrant in the area.
It is not clear if one of the injured is the suspect at this time.
The officer and the injured were rushed to RWJ Hospital for treatment.
Two individuals have been detained and are believed to be connected to the shooting, according to preliminary reports. Police have not stated if the detained were struck by gunfire.
The incident remains under an active investigation, with authorities working to gather more information.
