DEVELOPING NEWARK NJ: Vehicle Stolen from Kearny Involved in Pursuit in Newark

There are minor injuries reported for at least one person involved in a crash that involved a vehicle stolen out of Kearny and pursued by Newark Police.

According to preliminary reports, police began to follow the vehicle in the 400 block of South Orange Avenue, that was confirmed stolen from a location in Kearny, when the driver of the car ignored officer's lights and sirens and sped off.

The male driver of the vehicle led officers through several sections of Newark and touched a portion of Irvington after he slammed into a car in the vicinity of South Orange Avenue and Grove Street leaving a female driver suffering minor injuries just before 9 a.m.

Police lost the black SUV Jaguar with reported NJ license plate numbers "K36-HCY" in the area of Bergen Street and 16th Avenue.

Officers are canvassing the area searching for the vehicle and the driver at this time.
