There are two crime scenes established in the city's downtown district as police investigate a shooting that left two people injured a short time ago.
The incident originated in the area of Commerce Street and Clinton Street at around 10 p.m. when two males suspects approached a victim and attempted to pull off an apparent armed robbery according to preliminary reports from the scene.
The female victim reportedly pulled a gun and began to fire shots at the suspects, striking both men reports said.
One of the suspects was found bleeding at the scene while police searched the area for the second suspect and found him injured in the 500 block of Broad Street near the YMCA.
There is possibly a third suspects that remains at-large according to preliminary reports.
The victim (shooter) is being reported as a retired NYC Police Officer, was in the area when the men attempted to rob her.
Police have both areas taped off and are investigating.
The suspects are reportedly suffering serious injuries but not life threatening at this time.

UPDATE 12 a.m. The retired officer is a 43-Year-Old woman who retired less than a year ago.
The suspects, a 23-year old and a 27-year old, both of Newark, were apprehended by police and arrested. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to University Hospital. The suspects were each charged with robbery. The investigation is continuing.
