Officials from PSEG are on the scene of several power outages that has affected about 300 homes, businesses, and The St. Michael's Hospital in Newark.
The outage happened at around midnight leaving a portion of the city's Central Ward that includes the hospital, Rutgers campus, several and several homes in the dark.
Power still has not been restored as of 5:30 a.m. and there is no immediate word on what caused the outage or when crews are expected to alleviate the problem,.
