DEVELOPING NEWARK NJ: Child Death Under Investigation in Newark's West Ward

There is an active investigation into the death of a child that's underway at a housing complex in the city's West Ward.

Details are very limited but a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that shortly before 10 a.m., emergency responders were called to the Bradley Court Housing development located in the 70's block of North Munn Street after receiving reports of an injured person.

Medical personel located the 8-year-old boy unconscious and unresponsive in full cardiac arrest authorities said.

The boy was rushed to University Hospital where he died a short time later.

Detectives were on the scene conducting an investigation inside an apartment at the complex upon our arrival.

There are no immediate reports of foul play at this time.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is handling the investigation.
