Authorities in Newark and The Essex County Prosecutor's Office are announcing the arrest of **Mr. Michael Goldblatt, 34, of Newark,** for CDS and weapon possession.
According to police at approximately 12:50 p.m., detectives observed a male driver commit a motor vehicle violation at South and Mulberry streets.
Authorities said investigators conducted a motor vehicle stop and found the driver **Mr. Michael Goldblatt**, in possession of 77 bottles of liquid THC, also known as hashish, and nine pounds of marijuana.
Detectives applied for and received a search warrant for the suspect’s Astor Place residence, where they located 30 additional pounds of marijuana and four handguns along with approximately $34,000.00 in cash from the home authorities said.
Police arrested Mr. Goldblatt and charged him with Possession of CDS (Marijuana), Possession of CDS (marijuana/hashish) and Possession of CDS (hashish resin).
Police also charged Mr. Goldblatt with Possession of CDS (Marijuana) with Intent to Distribute, Possession of CDS (marijuana/hashish) with Intent to Distribute and Possession of CDS (hashish resin).
Along with four additional counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Defaced Firearm, four counts of Possession of a Firearm While Committing a CDS Offense, Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine, Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition, and Certain Persons Prohibited from Weapon Possession.
Director Ambrose said, through the cooperative efforts of the Newark Police Division and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, and the community, we were able to get Mr. Goldblatt off the streets.
These charges lodged against **Mr. Goldblatt** are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
