The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into a fatal stabbing that occurred this afternoon in Newark's Vailsburg section, leaving a male victim dead.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred around noon near South Orange Avenue and Sanford Avenue. Police were dispatched to the scene following reports of an injured male.
Upon arrival, officers and emergency medical services found the victim suffering from severe stab wounds to his torso.
Life-saving measures, including CPR, were administered before the unidentified male was transported to a nearby hospital.
Despite these efforts, Essex County officials later confirmed that the victim had died from his injuries.
Authorities have stated that the investigation is still in its early stages and is ongoing.
As of now, no arrests have been reported.
