Police in Newark are reporting a male struck by gunfire in the city’s South Ward at this time.
A ShotSpotter device activated in the 50’s block of Hillside Avenue, rushing police to the scene to investigate.
Units arrived and found multiple shell casings, but a search of the neighborhood indicated no victims.
While police investigated at the scene, officials at University Hospital notified authorities that a male entered the emergency department suffering bullet wounds.
The victim's condition has not been confirmed at this time, and no suspect has been arrested.
