The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is leading an investigation into a stabbing that claimed the life of a man this morning in Newark.
It happened before 11:30 a.m. at the Parkwood Place Apartments located at 358 Mount Prospect Avenue.
Police were called to the scene to investigate reports of an injured male and when they arrived, officers found the unidentified victim suffering a brutal stab wound to his neck according to residents.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Residents inside the complex said they did not hear or see anything suspicious and the complex along with the neighborhood is rather ‘peaceful’.
“There are several politicians including a state senator who lives nearby” residents said.
The motive for the stabbing is under investigation.
