Police have a crime scene established and an investigation underway into a shooting with a male victim injured in Newark at this time.
Units were dispatched to the area of 6th Avenue and North 12th Street to imvetssgte reports of shots fired.
Upon arrival, police requested EMS to rush to the scene after cops found a male victim suffering bullet wounds.
Officers canvassing the scene located multiple shell casings in the vicinity of 335 6th Avenue but no other injuries were reported.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital in serious condition.
Police believe the shooter fled the scene in a light-colored Nissan Altima.
