Police are trying to determine if a hospital walk-in shooting victim is connected to a shots-fired incident that occurred in Newark’s South Ward this evening.
According to police, at approximately 7:10 p.m., police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of 621 Clinton Avenue.
When police arrived at the scene, they found evidence of a shooting, but no victims were found.
While officers canvassed the area for evidence, officials at Beth Israel Medical Center notified officers of a gunshot victim who entered the emergency department.
The victim’s injuries were not reported as life-threatening at this time.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
