Police are reporting at least one person injured in a shooting that erupted at a large outdoor event at a bar in Elizabeth Sunday night.
According to witnesses who attended the event, police responded to several calls reporting shots fired outside the Bomboleros NIght Club on Elizabeth Avenue around 9:51 p.m.
Witnesses say a large event attended by several hundred individuals in the bar's parking lot erupted in violence when a fight broke out that engaged multiple individuals.
During the out-of-control confrontation, witnesses said an unidentified male pulled a weapon and began firing multiple times.
One of the bullets struck a severely injured a 29-year-old Montclair NJ man City Spokesperson Kelly Martins said. The victim’s injuries were only said to be life threatening.
The Union County Prosecutor's Office was called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
