There is an active search for at least one suspect who is wanted for leading police on a vehicle pursuit that ended in a fiery crash in the western Essex County community Fairfield.
Police have not released an official statement, but according to preliminary reports, police began to follow a vehicle where the driver refused to pull over during a traffic stop.
The vehicle sped down several streets in Fairfield before coming to a crashing halt in a wooded area just off of Little Falls Road at approximately 4:25 a.m.
One person was immediately taken into custody while officer continues to search for a second suspect who reportedly exited the vehicle and ran from the scene.
It is not immediately clear what other crimes the suspects were wanted for besides failing to stop for police.
