One person was rushed to University Hospital in Newark after a pedestrian strike in Elizabeth left the victim severely injured early Saturday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, emergency responder rushed to the vicinity of North Avenue and NJ-27 after receiving reports of a person injured at approximately 6:10 a.m.
Police units arrived to find a badly injured person lying on the ground after a vehicle struck them near the intersection, according to police.
Officers closed the intersection to traffic as authorities investigated the cause of the incident.
There were no other injuries reported.
