A high-speed police pursuit that began in East Orange ended with a crash this afternoon on a busy street in Newark.
According to preliminary reports, East Orange police began to follow a vehicle that refused to stop after a registration check had the car come back stolen just before 3 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle sped onto Central Avenue where it crashed near the intersection of South 8th Street according to police.
About five occupants, including the driver, bailed from the vehicle and led police on a foot pursuit.
Officers were able to apprehend one suspect while the others remain at-large.
The driver of a civilian vehicle was transported to University Hospital for non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash.
The incident is under investigation.
