The Union County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a stabbing incident that left a person dead in Elizabeth Saturday night.
According to a preliminary investigation, at approximately 10:45 p.m., police were dispatched to an address in the 100 block of Front Street to investigate reports of an aggravated assault in progress.
When cops arrived, they found an unidentified person suffering multiple stab wounds at that location.
The victim was reportedly rushed to Trinitas Hospital for treatment, but doctors made the pronouncement shortly before 11:30 p.m.
Police have not released a motive for this active and ongoing investigation.
The violent incident was the third stabbing in Elizabeth during the overnight.
No arrests have been reported.
