Newark Police detectives, along with the Shooting Response Team, are currently investigating a shooting incident that left one man injured in the Central Ward.
The situation happened at approximately 5:30 p.m. when police were called to the scene following reports of gunfire near 448 Avon Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim suffering from bullet wounds at the location.
He was promptly transported to University Hospital for treatment, though the severity of his injuries remains undisclosed.
The area surrounding the intersections of 16th and 17th Streets and Avon Avenue has been cordoned off as part of the ongoing investigation.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
The Newark Police Department urges anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
