The Essex County Prosecutor's Office are assisting in the investigation of a body found floating in a river in Essex County on Thursday morning.
According to preliminary information, Belleville Police were responding to a minor car crash on NJ-21 around 7:55 a.m. when one of the officers noticed a body floating in the Passaic River towards Nutley.
Emergency responders from Nutley and North Arlington, firefighters and rescue crews were called to the scene to assist in the recovery of the body.
Base on a preliminary investigation, officials believe that the car crash is unrelated to body found in the river
Essex County officials would only confirm their participation in the incident, which is actively under investigation.
