Police in Newark captured several violent suspects who snatched a car away from a resident at gunpoint in the South Ward and then robbed a gas station in the North Ward Saturday morning.
Just before 7:30 a.m., police received reports of a carjacking in progress in the vicinity of 499 Frelinghuysen Avenue.
When officers arrived, they learned that armed suspects exited a dark-colored Porsche and pointed a gun at the owner of a black Mercedes Benz.
The suspects in both vehicles fled the scene and then robbed the Lukoil gas station at the intersection of Bridge Street and NJ-21.
Essex County Sheriff’s Officers recovered the black Mercedes, with a reported NJ license plate number “J60-MPG”, and a black Porsche after a foot pursuit in the area of foot pursuit in the area of 14th Avenue and 13th Street around 8:20 a.m.
The Porsche was reported stolen out of Sayreville yesterday (Friday).
Two males were arrested during the pursuit and a third suspect remains at large.
No injuries were reported.
