Deadly Tractor-Trailer Crash Closes Lanes on NJ Turnpike in Union County

A fatal crash involving two tractor-trailers on the New Jersey Turnpike in Union County early Tuesday morning is under investigation by NJ State Police.

According to preliminary reports, the crash occurred around 12:20 a.m. in the southbound lanes near milepost 97.0 in Linden. 

Emergency responders, including state troopers and firefighters, arrived at the scene to find that one tractor-trailer had rear-ended another, leaving one individual severely injured.

Despite life-saving efforts, medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.

Authorities closed several lanes of the highway as they worked to clear the wreckage and conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash. 

No other serious injuries were reported.

The investigation remains active and ongoing as officials work to determine what led to the deadly collision.
