The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office is currently investigating a shooting that killed a person in Paterson Wednesday night.
According to county officials, a ShotSpotter activation alerted police of about a half dozen gunshot blasts in the vicinity of Van Houten and Summer streets shortly before 9:25 p.m.
Officers arrived and found the severely injured victim suffering a bullet wound in their chest. Police say the victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police searched the area for additional victims, but there were no other injuries reported. The suspect fled the scene and remain at-large.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
