The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office was notified of a deadly shooting that occurred early Wednesday morning on train tracks in Paterson.
According to preliminary information, Paterson police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 3:20 a.m. on the 800 block of East 27th Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an unidentified female on the train tracks suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene.
Authorities halted train traffic in the area as detectives searched for evidence to determine a motive for the shooting.
Circumstances surrounding this shooting incident have not been confirmed at this time.
