Deadly Shooting in Paterson: 14 Rounds Detected by ShotSpotter Leads to Investigation

A deadly shooting in Paterson early Wednesday morning has prompted an extensive investigation led by the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office.SupportThe incident, which claimed the life of a male victim, happened shortly before 1:50 a.m. after local police were alerted by a ShotSpotter detection system.

The system, designed to detect and convey the sound of gunfire, recorded 14 rounds being fired near the intersection of Madison Avenue and Ellison Street.

Responding officers arrived on the scene to find a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Despite emergency efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the State Regional Medical Examiner.

Authorities immediately secured the area, using police tape to cordon off the scene, where they discovered several shell casings.

Major Crimes and CSI detectives arrived and canvassed the location, gathering evidence to ascertain a motive for this violent shooting encounter. 

Authorities say the suspect remains at large, and no arrests have been reported. The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information to come forward. Support
