UPDATE: The incident was a self-inflicted shooting.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office has been notified of a shooting that left a person dead in North Brunswick on Sunday night.
Police responded to reports of an injured person in the 20's block of Aspen Drive shortly before 10:20 p.m.
Officers arrived and found an unidentified person suffering a gunshot wound at that location.
Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office canvassed the scene for evidence to support a motive for the shooting.
The cause is under investigation and no arrests have been reported.
