An ongoing investigation by authorities in Mercer County has led to the arrest of a Trenton woman accused of fatally striking a pedestrian with her vehicle following a heated dispute.

The Mercer County Homicide Task Force, working in coordination with the prosecutor’s Serious Collision Response Team and the Trenton Police Department, launched a detailed inquiry after a tragic incident took place in the 1400 block of West State Street on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 1.
According to a statement released by Mercer County law enforcement officials, the investigation revealed that 47-year-old Asia Brown, of Trenton, became involved in a confrontation with 67-year-old Caldner Bell outside Bell’s residence. In the moments following the dispute, Brown allegedly drove her Lexus SUV onto the curb, veered across the grass divider, and struck Bell with the vehicle.
After impact, the SUV reportedly continued moving forward, crashing onto the front lawn of a nearby home and ultimately hitting the structure.
Brown then fled the area, heading down West State Street toward Newell Avenue, police said.
Trenton officers who had been assigned to a nearby construction zone quickly spotted a heavily damaged SUV—missing a front bumper and riding on a shredded tire—moving erratically through the closed-off area.
They conducted a motor vehicle stop near Montgomery and East State streets, where the driver, later identified as Asia Brown, was taken into custody without incident.
Emergency responders transported Bell to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, but despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Brown has since been formally charged with first-degree murder and second-degree leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident.
The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion to keep her detained as she awaits trial.
Authorities continue to review evidence in the case, including witness statements and surveillance footage, as they work to determine the full sequence of events that led to this fatal encounter.
