A violent collision on a Middlesex County highway resulted in one fatality and serious injuries to several others on Sunday evening.
The incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Route 1 near the Edison Infiniti dealership.
Upon arrival, police and emergency medical services discovered one individual deceased and two others critically injured.
Edison Police temporarily closed Route 1 at Old Post Road to conduct a thorough investigation, which led to significant traffic delays. The highway was reopened shortly before 1:45 a.m.
Details of the crash are still limited as the investigation continues.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office has been notified and is involved in determining the cause of this devastating incident.
