An overnight shooting in Plainfield that left one person hospitalized in critical condition now has authorities investigating.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that sounded off in the 1100 block of East 2nd Street where units arrived at the scene to find the victim struck multiple times by gunfire at that location.
EMS rushed the victim to the hospital where officials reported life-threatening injuries.
Police set up a crime scene where they closed off the 1100 block and searched for evidence and a possible suspect responsible.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
There were no arrests reported.
**UPDATED 6:36 am (STATEMENT FROM PPD):** On Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at approximately 10:55 pm, Plainfield Police officers responded to the area of the 1000 block of East Second Street.
Upon arrival, they located a 26-year-old man with injuries consistent with a shooting.
EMS rushed the victim to an area hospital where he is listed in serious condition.
Detectives are investigating.
