Police shut down all eastbound lanes on Route 3 in Clifton as utility crews attempt to secure a pole with a transformer hanging over the roadway at this time.
According to police, the crash happened at around 1:20 p.m. near Passaic Avenue where the driver of an SUV somehow lost control and slammed into the utility pole.
The crash had the pole severely damaged and ready to fall onto the highway.
NJ State Police were called to assist with heavy traffic delays in the area.
There were no serious injuries reported.
