Authorities are investigating a crash that caused fatal injuries on Route 3 in East Rutherford overnight.
The crash happened in the westbound lanes of the highway near Rt. 120 shortly before 3 a.m. according to authorities.
Police were called to the scene after receiving reports of a crash with injuries reported.
Upon emergency responders arrival, crews began the process of extricating a badly injured person from an overturned vehicle at that location.
Crews were able to get the victim out of the vehicle in a short amount of time where attempts at life saving techniques proved unsuccessful reports said.
Crash investigation teams were on the scene to determine the cause of the crash.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
