The Morris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash that killed a 52-year-old man in Chatham Township on Monday morning.
The deadly collision happened at the intersection of Lafayette Avenue and Shunpike Road at approximately 11:30 a.m.
According to county officials, a Nissan Rouge had been traveling west on the roadway into the intersection and struck a Jeep Wrangler traveling south. The Wrangler then impacted a box truck parked on the opposite side of the intersection.
Officials said that the driver of the Wrangler, a 52-year-old Chatham resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities are in the process of notifying the victim’s next of kin.
Police said the intersection was closed for the investigation and the official cause has not been determined.
