An Orange NJ police officer suffered non-life threatening injuries after a car collided into his police cruiser late Monday night.
According to reports, the incident happened in the vicinity of Hickory and Reynolds streets where the officer was driving his cruiser when a Jeep driven by a 48-year-old Parsippany man put his vehicle in reverse then traveled backward at a high rate of speed for an unknown reason.
The Jeep reportedly slammed into the officer's cruiser that was attempting to make a turn at the intersection according to reports.
EMS transported the officer to St. Barnabus Medical Center after he complained of pain.
Police issued the driver of the Jeep a summons, but no arrests were made.
The incident remains under investigation.
