An 80-year-old Cranford woman who was pulling out of her driveway apparently had a medical emergency which sent her vehicle into the Rahway River.
According to police, at around 11 a.m., Cranford police and rescue crews responded to the area to extricate the driver and her 90-year-old husband from the vehicle.
An initial investigation revealed that the driver crossed through her neighbor's yard on Crescent Place before driving into the river.
According to police, the driver was transported to Overlook Hospital in an unknown condition.
Her husband was transported to University Hospital in Newark with what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.
The incident remains under investigation, according to police.
