A 36-year-old police officer accused of participating in a drug dealing operation out of her East Orange home claims had no knowledge of the alleged drug sales.
According to authorities, on eight separate occasions between October and December of 2013, undercover detectives purchased narcotics from Andrews Jones' (father of Massenburg's kids) North Maple Avenue home in East Orange.
During a raid, investigators discovered crack cocaine packaged for distribution, and paraphernalia that indicated cocaine was being packaged at the home.
Officer Rajheher Massenburg's attorney, Charles Sciarra, said during today's hearing, that he will file a severance motion which is scheduled to be heard on Dec. 4 before Superior Court Judge John Zunic.
Massenburg claims she had no knowledge that drugs were being sold by Jones who lives with her.
Massenburg's attorney added that his client's two children - including one with autism - lives in the home. Adding that it's outrageous to think that his client would allow that kind of dangerous circumstances to take place at her residence.
Massenburg has been charged with official misconduct and conspiracy to distribute narcotics. Her co-defendants, Jones, 38, and Rhea, 49, both of East Orange, were charged with conspiracy to distribute narcotics, multiple counts of distribution of cocaine, and distribution of cocaine within 500 feet of a public park.
Massenburg who has been suspended from her position has been an officer since 2003.
