Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Ibn Dortch who has been charged with the murder of Kenneth Thomas.
Police say, Thomas, 31, was fatally shot on May 13 on Renner Avenue in Newark.
According to authorities, Dortch, 25, of Newark is the second person charged in connection with the Thomas murder.
Dortch is charged with murder, conspiracy, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Previously, Jakim B. Ward, 22, also of Newark, was arrested and charged with murder, conspiracy, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

These are accusations.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
