Cold, Wet Friday Ahead as Stormy Pattern Begins in North Jersey

Good morning, New Jersey! Friday marks the start of an active and wet weather pattern across the region, with chilly temperatures and a high chance of rain on the way.

As of early this morning, temperatures in downtown Newark were hovering around 41 degrees under overcast skies. 

According to the National Weather Service, residents should expect to remain bundled up throughout the day as highs struggle to rise above the upper 40s. 

Persistent winds from the east around 10 mph will add to the chill.

Forecasters predict a 70% chance of precipitation today, with showers likely before 4 p.m. and steadier rain expected into the late afternoon. 

Rainfall amounts are expected to be light, with totals of less than a tenth of an inch possible during the day.

By Friday night, rain is expected to become more widespread and steady, with a 90% chance of precipitation and lows dipping to around 38 degrees.
