Cold, Rainy Start to the Week for Newark, North Jersey Region

North Jersey residents are waking up to a chilly and wet Monday, with steady rain and cold temperatures expected throughout the day. 

As of early Monday morning, downtown Newark reported a temperature of 41°F. Commuters and early risers are advised to bundle up and bring an umbrella, with light rain falling across much of the region.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures across North Jersey are expected to hover in the high 30s to low 40s for most of the morning before reaching a high near 56°F later in the day. 

Rain is expected to continue through approximately 5 p.m., with southeast winds shifting southwest at 8 to 11 mph in the afternoon. Wind gusts could reach up to 22 mph.

The rain will taper off Monday night, with a 30% chance of showers before 8 p.m. 

Skies are expected to become partly cloudy, and the overnight low will fall to around 41°F.
