Residents in Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to another frigid morning as temperatures hover at 23 degrees in Newark, 0 degrees in Somerville, and 7 degrees in Sussex County.

While there is plenty of sunshine to brighten the start of the weekend, it won’t provide much relief from the cold.

According to the National Weather Service, increasing cloud cover is expected throughout the day. Tonight will remain chilly, with mostly cloudy skies and a low of around 25 degrees.

The good news is that relief is on the horizon. Warmer temperatures are set to arrive on Sunday, with highs near 40 degrees, offering a welcome break from the icy conditions.

Until then, residents are advised to bundle up and layer appropriately as they head out for their weekend plans. Stay warm, New Jersey!
