A vehicle that refused to stop for Paterson police overnight had Clifton Police assisting in the pursuit that ended in North Bergen with the driver of the vehicle arrested.
According to reports, sometime at around 4 a.m., cops attempted to pull over a vehicle in the area of Main Street and 20th Avenue for unknown wants when the driver of the vehicle sped away from the scene.
With additional units assisting, cops began to follow the vehicle as the driver reportedly continued to speed recklessly down Paterson Street reports said.
A police cruiser that was involved in following the vehicle, crashed into a building at the intersection of Main Street and Van Houten Avenue after the suspect's vehicle crashed into the officer's vehicle, causing minor injuries to the officer according to reports.
Clifton Police picked up on the pursuit following the speeding vehicle onto the highway that led to the eastbound lanes of Route 3 where cops were finally able to get the vehicle to stop in the area of Tonnele Avenue in North Bergen reports said.
Police were able to immediately take the suspect in custody.
A Paterson police officer was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was expected to be ok.
There was one other crash that happened in the 30's block of Central Avenue that involved a Paterson police vehicle.
The incident is under investigation.
