Clifton Man Wanted in Double Stabbing, Surrenders

A Clifton man wanted for stabbing two people earlier this month, surrendered to police.

On Jan. 3, police responded to the 900 block of Bloomfield Avenue at about 7:15 a.m. for a stabbing. Upon arrival, police found an 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old man suffering from stab wounds.

The victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment. One of the victim's underwent surgery but both have since been released, according to police.

Further investigation, led police to identify the suspect as Darin Barone, 18, of Clifton.

Days past, with no signs of Barone. It was till days later, they realized that Barone's mother, Diane Barone, 47, of Clifton, intentionally mislead them. On Jan. 6, she was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension and unsworn falsification.

However, the search came to an end Tuesday afternoon after Barone turned himself into detectives with the juvenile division.

Barone was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of weapons possession.

He was taken to Passaic County Jail in lieu of $35,000 bail with no 10-percent option.
