Clifton Employee Arrested for Theft of Social Security Funds

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announces the arrest of Jacklyn Delillo, age 31, of Clifton, New Jersey.

Ms. Delillo was arrested by members of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit, assisted by the Social Security Administration Inspector General’s Office.

Ms. Delillo was charged with Theft by Deception, a crime of the third degree and Identity Theft, a crime of the third degree.

Ms. Delillo is an employee of the City of Clifton. Ms. Delillo worked at the Clifton Senior Citizens Center, where she allegedly befriended an elderly individual.

When the elderly individual died, Social Security checks continued to be deposited into the individual’s bank account.

It is alleged that Ms. Delillo used the decedent’s debit card to make purchases after his death, utilizing Social Security funds.

The total amount of theft is alleged to be approximately two-thousand five-hundred dollars ($2,500.00).

The maximum ordinary term for a third degree crime is five (5) years in New Jersey State Prison.

Ms. Delillo was released on a complaint-summons pending her first appearance in Central Judicial Process Court located at 77 Hamilton Street in Paterson on Friday, October 20, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. before the Honorable John F. Meola, J.M.C.

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
