A jury has found a Cliffwood, man guilty of murder and weapons offenses in connection to a violent 2024 stabbing that claimed the life of a 28-year-old man in Newark, according to county officials.
Terrance Bailey was convicted of first-degree murder and multiple weapons charges for his role in the fatal attack on Daniel Haas Jr., which occurred on February 20, 2024.
Prosecutors said Bailey and an unidentified accomplice chased Haas through the 200-block of Cathedral Court while armed with a firearm, before ultimately killing him using a machete-style knife.

The case was investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force, with assistance from the Newark and Irvington Police Departments, as well as the New Jersey State Police Forensics Laboratory.
After nearly two weeks of testimony and deliberation, the jury returned a guilty verdict on March 21.
Bailey now faces a sentence of 30 years to life in state prison. Due to New Jersey’s No Early Release Act, he must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
Authorities have not yet identified the second individual involved in the attack.
