North Jersey residents are starting the day to a cold and breezy Thursday morning, with temperatures just a few degrees above freezing.
As of early morning, it was 37°F in downtown Newark, with gusty winds making it feel even colder.
If you're heading out to walk the dog or make your morning commute, be sure to bundle up. While the chill lingers this morning, the weather is expected to improve as the day goes on—just in time for Major League Baseball’s Opening Day.
According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high near 53°F. Winds from the west will blow between 8 to 14 mph, with gusts reaching up to 26 mph.

Tonight, clouds will increase, and there’s a slight chance of rain and snow showers after 11 p.m., with a low around 40°F.
The good news? Warmer weather is on the way. Friday is expected to reach the 60s, and by Saturday, North Jersey could see a taste of summer with temperatures climbing into the upper 70s.
Stay warm this morning, and enjoy the sunshine, New Jersey!
