Good morning and happy Wednesday, New Jersey!

Residents across Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to brisk, early spring temperatures as they head out the door.

As of 4:30 a.m., it’s a chilly 39 degrees in downtown Newark. Other parts of the region are feeling even colder: Morristown is reporting 32 degrees, Sussex County sits at 31, Paterson at 35, Edison at 37, and Middletown is waking up to 38 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will remain on the cool side throughout the day.

Highs are expected to reach just 49 degrees, with mostly sunny skies and light winds shifting from the northeast to southeast at 7 to 11 mph.

If you’re walking the dog, commuting early, or spending extended time outdoors, be sure to dress in warm layers, as conditions will remain brisk through the afternoon.

Clouds will begin to move in later this evening, bringing a chance of showers before 10 p.m. and more steady rainfall likely after 2 a.m.

Overnight lows are expected to remain mild around 43 degrees.

Stay warm and have a great day, New Jersey!
