Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to a chilly yet dry Sunday morning, with temperatures hovering around 42 degrees. If you’re heading out for early worship services at your church or place of worship, bundle up with a warm jacket, sweater, and hat to ward off the morning cold.
The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts a pleasant warm-up later in the day, mirroring Saturday.’s conditions.
By midday, you should be able to shed those extra layers as temperatures climb to a comfortable high near 63 degrees.
However, the NWS has issued a cautionary note for today: there’s an elevated risk of fire spread due to northwest winds of 5 to 15 mph and low relative humidity levels between 20% and 30%.
Residents are strongly discouraged from burning and urged to exercise caution with potential ignition sources, such as machinery, matches, or cigarettes.
Be sure to properly extinguish or dispose of cigarette butts to prevent accidental fires.
Looking ahead, relief from dry conditions is on the way. Much-needed soaking rain is forecast to move into the region Wednesday night into Thursday.
Tonight’s weather will feature increasing clouds with a low around 46, while winds will remain light from the northwest at around 6 mph.
Enjoy your Sunday, New Jersey, and stay safe!
