A child left unattended in a running vehicle in the city's South Ward has police investigating.
Police were called to the 800 block of Clinton Avenue at around 5 p.m. where they received multiple calls from people in the area reporting that a screaming child was unattended inside a running vehicle.
Cops arriving to the scene located the boy in the vehicle and managed to get the door open to free the child.
The boy was taken to a nearby police precinct where EMS arrived to evaluate the child who was said to be around the age of 4-years-old.
Police processing the scene was approached by a man who stated that he was the father of the child, had officers immediately transport the man to the police precinct.
It is not immediately clear if the heat in the vehicle was on or if police placed the man in custody at this time.
There is an investigation underway.
