A 5-year-old child chasing after a ball in an apartment complex was pronounced dead after he was run over by a UPS truck, police announced this morning.
Police were called to Cheryl Drive (an apartment complex) in the Iselin section of Woodbridge Twp. at approximately 6:30 p.m. Thursday for a pedestrian strike.
Investigations revealed that a 38-year-old UPS driver was making a delivery when a 5-year-old boy (from the complex) apparently chased the ball under the truck.
The UPS driver entered the truck, apparently did not see the child under the truck and drove off.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
No charges have been filed at this time.
The investigation is active and continuing.
